Khalsaaid Charity

I was shocked, moved and angered when I first discovered the plight of the Yezidi women in Iraq.

I was so moved by their story I asked KhalsaAid if there was anything I could do as a filmmaker. This short film is the result, taking you into the photographic exhibition at Notting Hill's Lacey Contemporary Gallery (Mar '17) to see the work and meet the people trying to change things.

Targeted by ISIS since 2014, these women have undergone horrific ordeals; captured, sexually enslaved and enduring extreme violence on a daily basis, these women have been largely forgotten by the West.

KhalsaAid, Hothi & Othi and the photographer Benjamin Eagle are reminding us of the faces behind the stories, forcing us to look into their eyes and see their resolve and defiance.
