Artists

I love working with all different types of artists. In the past my films have explored the processes and aims of dancers, painters and muscians. I usually capture them in their studio or rehearsal space which never fails to thrill me.

Art galleries have employed me to create digital content for their exhibitions. Now, artists themselves employ me to produce films for their websites in order to convey what they do.

However, the film featured is an exception as it was an art work within an exhibition. I produced this film to help promote its artist Gemma Parker's contribution to an exhibition at HOME in Manchester.

The Tattooed Lady: Tales of Love and Regret is inspired by heart break, break ups and the dark side of the fun fair.

Gemma Parker designed and painted this work of art which dispenses contemporary tattoos based on modern tales of love gone wrong.

I've filmed Gemma Parker a few years ago for The Lowry so I'm a fan of her wonderful work. When I saw it I was struck by the meloncholy of this enchanting machine and the humour of the tattoos and the stories they told. I edited it to a song that I sang called Drop The Curtain, which seemed to suit the slightly still, somewhat sad, melancholy "character" of the machine.
